The Pinecrest Academy team won first in The Georgia Stock Market Game, hosted by the SIFMA Foundation and the Georgia Council on Economic Education. The independent Catholic school competed in the private school Northeast region section.

The team included Robert Crone, Christian Marchione and Jacob Jennings.

High school social studies teacher David Boaz assembled nine teams at the Cumming school, which competed against 27 other schools. Besides taking first in the region, Pinecrest’s team finished forty-ninth out of 3,675 statewide entries.

The team turned a profit of $15,870 on a mythical $100,000 opening amount in six weeks, which is equivalent to an annualized rate of return of 136 percent.

Pinecrest also had teams finish third, fifth and sixth in the competition.
