Archbishop announces New Priest Assignments

Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory has announced the following priest assignments. The assignments are effective July 7, 2011, unless otherwise noted.

PASTORS

Father Joseph Liem Nguyen, who has been serving as national advisor for the Vietnamese in the United States, has been appointed pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Blairsville.

Father Richard Wise, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Blairsville, has been appointed pastor of Our Lady of the Mount Church, Lookout Mountain. He has also been appointed as administrator of St. Katharine Drexel Mission, Trenton.

RETIREMENT

Msgr. Leo P. Herbert, pastor of Our Lady of the Mount Church, Lookout Mountain, and administrator of St. Katharine Drexel Mission, Trenton, will retire.

PAROCHIAL VICARS

Father Henry Atem, parochial vicar at St. Peter Chanel Church, Roswell, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Patrick Church, Norcross.

Father Nicholas G. Azar, parochial vicar at St. Michael Church, Gainesville, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Holy Spirit Church, Atlanta.

Father Pavol Brenkus, parochial vicar at St. James Church, McDonough, has been appointed as a parochial vicar at Holy Trinity Church, Peachtree City.

Father Llane Briese, who has received a graduate degree (licentiate) in biblical theology at the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Peter Chanel Church, Roswell.

Father Salomon Garcia, parochial vicar at Holy Trinity Church, Peachtree City, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Matthew Church, Winder.

Father Armando Herrejon-Lopez, parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Athens, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Holy Family Church, Marietta, and at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Sandy Springs. He will reside at St. Jude Church.

Father Roberto Herrera, parochial vicar at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Woodstock, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Alpharetta.

Father Omar Loggiodice, parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Marietta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Athens.

Father Fausto Marquez, parochial vicar at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Sandy Springs, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Holy Cross Church, Atlanta.

Father Paul Moreau, LC, who has been serving as vice rector and head chaplain of Holy Spirit Preparatory School, Atlanta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Woodstock, effective Aug. 15, 2011.

Father Javier Munoz, parochial vicar at Holy Cross Church, Atlanta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Marietta.

Father Mansueto “Chito” Palang, parochial vicar at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Alpharetta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. James Church, McDonough.

Father Dairo Antonio Rico, parochial vicar at St. Patrick Church, Norcross, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Holy Trinity Church, Peachtree City.

Father Manuel de Jesus Rivas has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Kennesaw.

Father Jaime Rivera, parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta, has in addition been assigned to celebrate the weekly Spanish Mass on Saturday evenings at Our Lady of the Mountains Church, Jasper.

Father Michael Silloway, who received a graduate degree (licentiate) at the Pontifical John Paul II Center for Studies on Marriage and Family in Rome, Italy, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta.

Father Dominic Tran, parochial vicar at Transfiguration Church, Marietta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Michael Church, Gainesville.

Father Stewart A. Wilber, LCSW, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Holy Family Church, Marietta, effective July 1, 2011. He will continue as a clinically licensed psychotherapist with Catholic Charities Atlanta. He will reside at Holy Family Church.

COLLEGE OF CONSULTORS

Bishop Luis R. Zarama, auxiliary bishop of Atlanta and vicar general, has also been appointed to serve a second five-year term on the College of Consultors of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, effective June 6, 2011.

Father Albert W. Jowdy, pastor of St. Lawrence Church, Lawrenceville, and dean of the Northeast Metro Deanery, has also been appointed to serve a second five-year term on the College of Consultors of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, effective June 6, 2011.
