BT Captures Second State Championship

Published May 26, 2011

Blessed Trinity High School will have to make room in its display case for a second Class AA state championship trophy this year. The girls soccer team joins the girls tennis team in the ring of champions.

The Lady Titans captured their fifth state title in eight years, a pretty remarkable feat for a school that opened just over 10 years ago. Blessed Trinity defeated Greater Atlanta Christian School 1-0 during the second overtime with a penalty kick May 13. Blessed Trinity finished the season with a record of 19-2-1 and was undefeated (7-0) in region play.

Gilbert Jean-Baptiste, affectionately known as “Coach JB,” coaches the team. He may not be the original “JB,” James Brown, but his teams can be described as “Super Bad.”
