Archdiocese To Host Black Catholic Administrators Event

On Thursday, Sept. 24, Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory will celebrate Mass at the Lyke House, Atlanta, for attendees. Non-members of NABCA are invited to attend but must register by contacting Charles Prejean, Atlanta archdiocesan director of black Catholic ministry, at (404) 888-7848 or cprejean@archatl.com.

Members and non-members of NABCA can also attend on Friday, Sept. 25. Non-members should register—the cost for attending Friday events is $140. Talks will be offered throughout the day, beginning with Mass at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast and the first session at 9 a.m. Among the talks offered are “The Altered Landscape of Religious Giving,” “Creating Congregational Cultures of Generosity,” and “Multiculturalism.” A recognition banquet and social will be held at 7 p.m.

The Saturday activities will include a professional rejuvenation clinic, prayer service, and a session on liturgical norms.

NABCA provides the setting for discussion on the church’s effort for human development in the U.S. The group is devoted to strengthening African-American persons involved in authentic roles in dioceses for community building. NABCA promotes the evangelization of faith communities, the unchurched and the wider community, develops leadership skills and provide resources for its members and other constituencies, collaborates with other national organizations and formulates strategies for the implementation of the National Black Catholic Pastoral Plan and other documents.
