Immaculate Heart of Mary School is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with a weekend of celebration and fun.

The big “Homecoming Weekend” will take place at the school from April 24-26.

An alumni and parent reception is scheduled for Friday evening in the IHM gymnasium. Marta Lane, a Spanish teacher at the school, also the class of ‘67, is producing a short show for the evening event.

On Saturday, April 25, the school will host a carnival for all alumni and former families, with an Alumni Mass on Sunday to wrap up the weekend.

Dennis Kelly, president of Zoo Atlanta, and Mike Messner, a partner with a major investment firm in New York City, both graduates of IHM class of ‘67, are the honorary chairs of the event, as well as leaders in the $3 million endowment campaign that is kicking off with this anniversary celebration.

“Our anniversary committee has been meeting for well over a year, and besides the major events of the weekend of April 24-26, we have developed an alumni database, have developed an alumni Web site and an alumni newsletter, and have worked extensively with the archdiocese development office in preparing a case statement and endowment documentation,” said Lisa Rhodes, administrative director for IHM.
