‘Music For Winter Night’ Features Church Choirs

Published November 27, 2008

The musicians and singers of Good Shepherd Church, Cumming, along with pastor Father Peter Rau, invite the public to gather for an Advent concert, “Music for a Winter Night,” on Saturday evening, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.

The program will include Advent anthems, hymns and Celtic Advent prayers and readings. Bella Cantorei, the Good Shepherd Men’s choir and the Good Shepherd Parish Choir, accompanied by violin, guitar, flute, percussion, bells and piano, will present the music, directed by Nancy Smith.

“From the first notes of our ninth-century processional to the last cadences of ‘Dona Nobis Pacem,’ we proclaim the coming of the Prince of Peace in song and word,” the invitation says.

All are invited to the concert and a reception afterward. Donations will be accepted to help purchase handbells.

Good Shepherd Church is located at 3740 Holtzclaw Road, Cumming. For information call the parish at (770) 887-9861, ext. 17.
