Catechesis Program To Begin At St. Brigid

Published September 18, 2008

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, level one, an adult formation course for working with children, will be offered at St. Brigid Church for eight sessions beginning Friday to Saturday, Sept. 26-27. The level one course is the foundation for all three levels of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. Training consists of discussions, presentations and practicing with the material. This retreat-like training not only prepares adults to work with children ages 3-12 in a Montessori environment, but also assists them on their own faith journeys. Through lively discussions, catechists discover the doctrinal content and direct aim for the presentations given to the child. Participants also develop skills that help guide children to discover their faith on their own.

The training sessions will be held at St. Brigid on Sept. 26-27, Oct. 10-11, Nov. 14-15, and in 2009 on Jan. 30-31, Feb. 27-28, March 27-28, April 24-25, and Dec. 12-13. Participants will meet on Friday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A national association certificate will be issued when all requirements for the course are complete.

Tuition for the program is $525 for multiple participants from the same parish and $575 for an individual. A non-refundable deposit of $150 will be applied to the total tuition due.

St. Brigid is located at 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek.
