Father Herlihy Named First-Time Pastor

Father Neil J. Herlihy, currently a parochial vicar at St. Thomas More Church, Decatur, will become pastor of St. Peter the Rock Church in The Rock.

A native New Yorker, Father Herlihy, 56, is a 1973 graduate of Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y., with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting. He received his master of divinity degree in 2004 from St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pa., with highest honors.

Before entering the seminary, he worked as an accountant in the corporate world. After moving to Georgia over 17 years ago, he was a devoted parishioner at Holy Family Church in Marietta, where he worked with St. Vincent de Paul, Knights of Columbus, the pro-life community, RCIA, and Ultreya.

Father Herlihy’s first assignment following his ordination was as parochial vicar at St. Thomas More.
