St. Jude’s To Host Workshops

Published September 13, 2007

Parish staff members from throughout the state of Georgia are invited to attend a day of workshops at St. Jude the Apostle Church on Thursday, Sept. 27. Admission to the workshops is free.

Sponsored by a national religious publishing organization, the J.S. Paluch Company, workshops on a variety of topics will be offered for church bulletin editors, parish business managers, music directors and youth ministers.

The day will begin at 8:30 a.m., when Tom Gull, national sales consultant from the J. S. Paluch Company and author of “The Complete Parish: A Recipe for Success,” will lead a morning workshop for bulletin editors until 11:45 a.m. Gull will focus on improving communications through the weekly parish bulletin.

Following a complimentary lunch from 12:15-1:15 p.m., Gull will lead an afternoon session from 1:30-3:30 for parish business managers and development directors. During the session, he will discuss ways to increase parishioner participation in parish life and the stewardship of treasure by better use of parish census information and administrative procedures.

During a concurrent session held for music directors, local musician and composer Paul Tate will conduct a choral reading session. Participants will receive over 20 pieces of music from J.S.Paluch’s music and liturgy division—World Library Publications—for use in their own parishes.

At 7:30 p.m., Tate and fellow World Library Publications artist and local musician Ed Bolduc will lead an evening of uplifting song. The first 300 attendees will receive a complimentary copy of WLP’s new contemporary hymnal, “Voices as One® Volume 2.”

No registration is required for the evening session with Tate and Bolduc. However, registration is appreciated for those requesting lunch during the day workshops. St. Jude the Apostle is located at 7171 Glenridge Drive.
