Fund Honors Father Pat Mulhern

Published September 27, 2007

A group of friends of Father Pat Mulhern have established a fund in his memory to support a performing arts experience for students at St. Thomas More School each year.

“There were so many areas of God’s creation that Father Pat loved but paramount among them were his love for St. Thomas More School and his love of the arts,” the group explains. “As a mark of gratitude for his years of service, a fund is being established to enable (the school) to offer students an experience in some aspect of the performing arts—theater, music, dance—every year.”

Pastor of St. Thomas More Church from 1987 to 1999, Father Mulhern died last Nov. 29 at the age of 67. He was talented in drama and music himself, performed on stage in All Hallows Seminary where he was a student in Dublin, Ireland, and always supported and attended performances at Decatur neighborhood playhouses. He was enormously proud of St. Thomas More School, which was named a National School of Excellence.

Anyone wishing to join in this tribute to the memory of Father Mulhern may make their donation to St. Thomas More School, with a notation designating it for the Father Pat Mulhern Memorial Fund. Donations are tax-deductible. The fund is separate from the St. Thomas More School annual fund campaign and PTO fundraisers.

The school is located at 630 West Ponce de Leon Ave., Decatur, GA 30030.
