Deacon Joe Reynolds, a permanent deacon at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Smyrna, died Tuesday, July 3. He was 59.

Ordained to the diaconate in 2004, Deacon Reynolds retired from the State of Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources where he served for 20 years, including 14 as the director of the internal audit unit. He is survived by Scarlett, his wife of nearly 30 years, and daughter Megan, both of Mableton.

Father Jim Kuczynski, MS, pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle, celebrated the funeral Mass July 7.
