Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory has named three priests as first-time pastors, effective June 21.

Father Kevin Hargaden, currently a parochial vicar at St. Lawrence Church in Lawrenceville, will become pastor of St. Peter Church in LaGrange and administrator of its mission, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Warm Springs.

Father Roberto Orellana, a parochial vicar at St. Patrick Church in Norcross, will be the new pastor of St. Augustine Church in Covington, and Father Joseph Shaute, currently a parochial vicar at St. Theresa Church in Douglasville, will begin his first pastorate at St. Clement Church in Calhoun.

Father Hargaden, 35, is a native of Milledgeville, where he grew up attending Sacred Heart Church. He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Georgia Tech. As a seminarian he earned a master’s degree in sacred Scripture and a master of divinity degree from St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pa.

Ordained in 1999, he served his first assignment as a parochial vicar at St. Joseph’s Church in Marietta. In 2002, he became a parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta. From January 2003 to June 2004 he served as a chaplain at Blessed Trinity High School in Roswell until he was assigned as a parochial vicar in Lawrenceville.

Father Orellana, 45, a native of El Salvador, was ordained in 2001. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology and a certificate in global studies from the University of Georgia. He also earned a diploma in global studies and diplomacy in 1989 from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

As a seminarian, he received a master of divinity degree from St. Vincent Seminary, Latrobe, Pa.

Following his ordination in 2001, Father Orellana served as a parochial vicar at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Atlanta and its mission of Our Lady of the Americas in Doraville. In 2002, he began serving as a parochial vicar at Holy Cross Church in Atlanta, before his assignment as a parochial vicar at Transfiguration Church in Marietta. From there, he was assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Pius X Church in Conyers, where he served until 2005, when he was assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Patrick’s Church.

Father Shaute, 43, a native of Tacoma, Wash., was ordained in 2001. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a broadcasting concentration from Georgia State University. Prior to the seminary, Father Shaute worked as a freelance writer for the Gwinnett Daily News, as well as a freelance production assistant for Turner Sports and as a newscaster and reporter for a radio station in Rome.

As a seminarian, he received a master of divinity degree from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. After his ordination, his first assignment was as a parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church in Marietta. In 2003, he was assigned as a parochial vicar at Holy Trinity Church in Peachtree City. He served there until 2004, when he began his assignment as a parochial vicar at St. Theresa Church.
