Woodstock Parish To Host Mission

Published April 26, 2007

St. Michael the Archangel Church will host a parish mission led by noted teacher and speaker Father Larry Richards from Sunday, May 6, to Wednesday, May 9. The mission will begin each evening at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Father Richards, who will also speak during Masses at the church on the weekend of May 6, has directed hundreds of retreats and parish missions during his years of ministry. His experience includes being pastor of an inner city parish, a high school chaplain, a counselor and an evangelist. Ordained in 1989 for the Diocese of Erie, Pa., Father Richards now serves as the pastor of St. Joseph Church and the Bread of Life Community in Erie. In 2004, he founded the “Reason for Our Hope Foundation,” a nonprofit organization dedicated to “spreading the Good News” by educating others about Christ and the Catholic faith through audio tapes, CDs, DVDs and other multimedia products. His most popular presentation, “The Truth,” is available as a free download at www.The ReasonForOurHope.org.

The purpose of St. Michael’s mission is to help people grow in their love for God and give them hope and direction in their daily lives. On Sunday evening, May 6, Father Richards will speak on knowing God’s love, and will give practical information about how to pray. On Monday night the focus is on the gift of the Mass, and Father Richards will celebrate a “teaching” Mass with explanation. He will also speak on the importance of family. Tuesday night’s presentation will focus on the passion of Jesus Christ and will include a penance service. Wednesday evening will include a focus on the Eucharist with adoration and Benediction followed by a healing service.

A reception hosted by the parish RCIA program will follow the service on Wednesday, May 9.

No nursery will be provided for the mission.

St. Michael’s is located at 490 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock.
