Construction Begins At Pinecrest

Published September 28, 2006

With three permanent brick buildings already in use, the sound of heavy equipment is filling the Pinecrest Academy campus yet again, with construction of a dedicated chapel building and two new sports fields.

In a burst of generosity that caught the pre-K to 12th-grade school community by surprise, an anonymous benefactor offered to fund the construction of a dedicated chapel in the heart of the campus. The site has been surveyed and marked and construction is scheduled to begin in December. With over 200 students, families and faculty members attending morning Mass, the overflow crowd is forced into the adjoining cafeteria. The chapel will be built to hold 300 people.

In addition, Pinecrest Academy has also announced the successful completion of the “Fields Campaign” which will allow for the immediate construction of a game ready baseball field and an additional practice field.

The school’s new cross country course was the site of the school’s first invitational cross country meet held on Sept. 21. Eleven area schools participated including Riverside Military Academy and the Atlanta Girls School.
