NCYC Team Seeking Volunteers

Published October 6, 2005

Volunteers are still needed for the National Catholic Youth Conference, which is expected to draw as many as 20,000 teenagers from across the country.

The conference, which will be held Oct. 27-29 at the Georgia Dome and World Congress Center, requires volunteers to work as ushers, door guards, greeters, with merchandise sales and in the Thematic (interactive) Park.

Volunteers can sign up for one shift or multiple shifts and day or evening slots are available.

Barb Garvin, archdiocesan director for youth ministry and diocesan host of NCYC, said that it is an opportunity that should not be missed.

“It really is a wonderful way to share your Catholic faith while being involved in a major conference with the top speakers and Catholic musicians from around the country,” she said. “We encourage anyone who can to spend multiple days with us, sharing in this uplifting and faith-filled experience.”

To register to volunteer, visit www.atlyouth.org and click on “NCYC” more information. Then click on “volunteer” and fill out the online registration form. For those who prefer to register by fax, a registration form is available on the front page of the Web site and can be faxed to (770) 993-5311.

All volunteers must complete the Archdiocese of Atlanta Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People volunteer application and background screen. Opportunities will be available the week of Oct. 10 to complete this process.

For more information, contact the youth office by phone at (678) 352-4271 or (770) 993-5272 or by e-mail at bgarvin@archatl.com.
