Holy Cross Holds Fair

Published October 13, 2005

The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary of Holy Cross Church will host a craft fair on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., while the Knights will host a vintage and modern automobile show from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the parking lot behind the church. Holy Cross is located at 3773 Chamblee-Tucker Road.

Automobiles on display will include Corvettes, Mustangs, a variety of muscle cars of the late ‘60s, and the new tuner and high performance cars. The event will feature music, a concession stand and the following awards for automobiles: People’s Choice, Pastor’s Choice, Best Interior and Best Paint. Auto owners are invited to enter their vehicles for competition. Registration is $10 per car entered.

Partial proceeds from crafts, including jewelry, pottery, greeting cards and a variety of additional items, will be applied to the fourth annual Harry Burns Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Pius X High School in Atlanta, while full proceeds from the automobile show will benefit the fund. The scholarship fund was established in 2001, according to Christopher Murphy of the Knights of Columbus, in honor of the late Harry Burns, a charter member of Council 10355, a fourth-degree Knight and past Grand Knight.

“Harry was always a helpful individual,” said Murphy. “He was always there to help out. That’s why we require recipients to provide service to the community and to help wherever they are needed.”

The fund, which is 90 percent endowed, is targeted to be fully endowed by the end of 2005.
