Kennesaw Scouts Receive Catholic Emblems
Published May 5, 2005
On March 6, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 27 Cub Scouts and Junior Girl Scouts were awarded their Catholic religious emblems. The boys are from Cub Scout packs 422, 540, 733, 999 and 1916 in the Mountain Lake District. The girls are from Junior troops 20203, 20264 and 2149.
These Scouts worked diligently for six months to earn their respective medals, under the direction of Father Theodore Book and the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, who serve on the staff of St. Catherine of Siena School.
Gary LaPointe, a member of the Archdiocese of Atlanta Catholic Committee on Scouting, is the coordinator and counselor of the program at the parish. He expressed his “amazement” with the participation and dedication of the Scouts in the program. In the past three years, more than 70 Scouts have completed these programs.
Scouts interested in participating in this program should contact LaPointe for more information at lapo2196@bellsouth.net.
