‘Holy Grounds’ Coffeehaus Opens In Lent

The Office of Young Adult Ministry (YAM) will sponsor Holy Grounds, the annual Lenten coffeehaus speaker series on Wednesdays, Feb. 16 and 23 and March 2, 9 and 16 at Marist School, 3790 Ashford Dunwoody Road.

Each night will begin with a 6:30 p.m. optional Mass in the Marist chapel, followed by fellowship and a light Lenten dinner at 7 p.m. From 7:30 p.m. on there will be a speaker and small group discussions, followed by a 9 p.m. coffee and dessert social. There will be an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation each night. A $5 cover charge includes dinner.

The speakers and topics are as follows:

Feb. 16: Gary Shirley, “Vocation of Manhood.” Shirley has 15 years of experience teaching middle and high school parish school of religion classes and RCIA and Back to the Basics classes for adults. He has been married for 21 years and has three children.

Feb. 23: Lisa Fiamingo, “Understanding the Power of a Woman.” Fiamingo is the co-founder of Spirit & Truth, a ministry for young adults. She is married and has three young children.

March 2: Kathleen Raviele, M.D., “God’s Mercy.” A gynecologist who is treasurer of the Catholic Medical Association, Raviele has been married for 30 years and has two young adult children.

March 9: Father Brian Higgins, “Answering God’s Call.” Father Higgins is the director of vocations for the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

March 16: Father Linus DeSantis, OFM Conv., “Bringing to Fulfillment What God Has Begun in Us.” Father DeSantis is the campus minister at Kennesaw State University and Berry College in Rome and is a member of the advisory council for TEC—To Encounter Christ—young adult retreats.
