“From the Archives: Catholics and the Atlanta Olympic Games”

The Paris Olympics will soon conclude with the closing ceremony on Aug. 11. Like many of the games before, this year’s event was characterized by dramatic moments, victories and defeats, and some controversy. In that respect, the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta were not that different.

From the Archives: The nuncio’s role
Archbishop Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States, paid a visit to Emory University in Atlanta in February. Overall, there have been 10 men to serve in this role since the formation of the Diocese of Atlanta in 1956, but not all have technically been nuncios.
