ATLANTA—The next Catholic-Orthodox ecumenical gathering is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 14, at 7 p.m. at Holy Spirit Church, 4465 Northside Drive, Atlanta. A reception will take place afterwards in McDonough Hall.

Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory and Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta will officiate. The theme will be “Honoring the Holy Mother of God ‘Theotokos’ during the Year of Faith.”

The keynote speaker will be Demetrios Katos, dean and professor of religious studies, Hellenic College, Boston. He has been on the faculty since 2000, offering courses in theology, history and religion. Katos is a board member of the Stephen and Catherine Pappas Patristic Institute of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and has served as treasurer and vice-president of the Orthodox Theological Society in America. From 2004-2010, he was a lecturer in the department of theology at Boston College where he taught courses in Eastern Orthodox theology. His research is devoted to the theology, history and intellectual culture of Christian antiquity. He specializes in early Christian spiritual and mystical traditions and was named Henry Luce III Fellow in theology. He is the author of “Palladius of Helenopolis: The Origenist Advocate” (Oxford University Press, 2011).
