Holy Trinity Plans 100 Hours Of Prayer

The parish begins 100 hours of continuous prayer on Monday, March 9. “Mighty to Save 2009” is the theme for the 100 hours. The pastor, Father Michael Kingery, is asking everyone to spend 15 minutes in prayer before the Eucharist. The intention is the spiritual growth of every member of the parish as a disciple of Christ along with the personal intentions of each person.
“Mighty to Save 2009” will begin on Monday, March 9, with 9 a.m. Mass followed by solemn exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and conclude on Saturday, March 14, at noon with a eucharistic procession, solemn Benediction and a brunch for all parishioners. The Blessed Sacrament will remain on the altar in a monstrance for 100 hours to allow ample opportunities for the entire parish community to participate. There will be a prayer fair after every Mass on March 7 and 8 to provide information on many different Catholic devotions.
There are many different ways for families to participate from a 15-minute visit to a full hour. There will be various guided holy hours, opportunities for the sacrament of reconciliation, a healing Mass, and fellowship. The schedule includes a separate holy hour for teens, families, schools, men, women, marriages and vocations. Many hours of silent prayer have been included in the schedule.
Each one will require three guardians per hour. A guardian is a person who agrees to remain in the church for a specified period of time. While the usual commitment is one hour, if that is not possible, guardians may sign up for a period of time from 15 minutes to a full hour. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday adoration will be held around the clock and three guardians per hour will be needed during the hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. To schedule a time of prayer as a guardian contact Maria McConnie at (770) 631-9945 or e-mail macconnieB@bellsouth.net.
