ATLANTA—First-graders at Christ the King School enjoyed a visit from staffers from the High Museum of Art, who conducted the First Look workshop.

Students viewed and discussed photos of art from the museum’s permanent collection, and later used various tools to create texture on clay to imagine the ways that an artist created a terracotta vessel in third century Africa.

Finally, using Roy Lichtenstein’s House III sculpture as inspiration, the students worked in groups to create a colorful 3D building from cardboard, construction paper and masking tape.
