YOUNG CATHOLIC PROFESSIONALS LEADERSHIP TEAM:
Young Catholic Professionals (YCP), a fast growing non-profit organization, has chapters in Atlanta and nearly 30 cities across the country and internationally. YCP was founded in 2010 by a young entrepreneur with a mission to "Work in Witness for Christ." YCP forms tomorrow’s leaders to step forward in their communities and workplaces. Volunteers are the backbone of a YCP chapter. DISPLAY OF EUCHARISTIC MIRACLES: Available in English and Spanish. Sept. 30–Oct 7 at Sacred Heart Church, 1009 Benson Street, Hartwell; phone, 706-376-4112. For exhibit hours, call the parish. All are invited to come and view some of the Eucharistic miracles that have taken place throughout the ages, and which have been recognized by the church. FLORIANI VISIT: Oct. 29-Nov. 5. Floriani, a men’s vocal ensemble dedicated to reviving sacred music in the church, will visit the Archdiocese of Atlanta to provide music at Masses, conduct workshops and host a conference. On Sun., Oct. 29, the group will sing at Masses at the Cathedral of Christ the King at 9, a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. They will conduct workshop’ at St. John Bosco Academy on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 to culminate in an All Saints’ Mass. GenVerde, the international performing arts group of the Focolare Movement, will present a sung Mass on Sept. 30. On Oct. 4, GenVerde will perform for the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. Program will feature relics of St. Faustina Kowalska, Piece of the True Cross, St. Veronica, St. Padre Pio and St. Longinus. In addition to veneration of the relics, this one-hour program will include exposition of the Holy Eucharist, special music with Charles Lynch, meditative times, and narration by Father Michael Silloway. JOURNEY OF HOPE SPEAKERS TOUR: Jan. 26-Feb. 7, 2024; Georgians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (GFADP) invites priests, deacons and laypeople to host a speaker. This will be the 30th Anniversary GFADP “Journey of Hope Speakers’ Tour.” This event brings murder victims’ family members, exonerees and family members of those on death row to parishes, schools, universities and faith communities all over Georgia. They share powerful stories of their experiences as well as their decision to work to end the death penalty. GFADP is collaborating with Georgia Catholics Against the Death Penalty (GCADP) and the Catholic Mobilizing Network (CMN) to bring speakers to several parishes. GFADP will be having a Zoom meeting on Tue, Sept 26 from 7-8 p.m., for those interested in learning more about hosting a speaker. VATICAN DISPLAY OF EUCHARISTIC MIRACLES: Bring the Vatican Display of Eucharistic Miracles to your parish or school. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops began a three year “National Eucharistic Revival” initiative on Corpus Christi Sunday, June 19, 2022. In support of its efforts, the Mary Our Mother Foundation is making the Vatican display available to churches and schools. The exhibit is available in English and Spanish and is a great resource in strengthening and confirming people’s faith in our Lord’s Real Presence in the Eucharist. RUN TO SERVE: Sat, Oct. 28; 6:30 a.m. packet pickup. Blackburn Park, Brookhaven. This 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will help Catholic Charities Atlanta support vulnerable children and their families. This race is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier and will be managed by Pacesetters Road Race Consulting. There will be post-race food, activities and music. This race will include presentation of the annual St. Sebastian Award to the top Catholic school runner and the school they attend. Parishes will also be able to sign up as teams and run together.
