Holy Spirit Prep swimmers compete in state championship

ATLANTA—The varsity and middle school swim teams at Holy Spirit Preparatory School, Atlanta, competed in the Jan. 30 Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) State Swimming Championship, which took place at The McAuley Aquatic Center, on the campus of Georgia Tech. When all 36 events were over, the varsity boys and girls teams placed second and fourth overall, respectively. Star Brackin is the varsity and middle school head coach and Amanda Foutch serves as the assistant coach.

Three of the Holy Spirit swimmers broke school records in five different events. They included sophomore Jacob Wilhelm’s third place in the 100 Freestyle (49.96), his fifth place in the 500-yard Freestyle (5:06.70) and his third place in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:04.56); junior Adam Marshall’s sixth place in the 100-yard Backstroke (1:00.55) and sixth-grader Logan Lanier’s seventh place in the 50-yard Breaststroke (41.57). Lanier’s record eclipsed his teammate Wilhelm’s Jan. 2018 record time of 42.48.
