Commencements For Catholic Schools Begin May 12

The 31 seniors at Monsignor Donovan High School, Athens, will graduate on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. The commencement ceremony is at the high school.
Students will attend a baccalaureate Mass at St. Joseph Church, Friday, May 11, at 7 p.m. Father David McGuiness, pastor of the Athens parish, is the celebrant.
David Thomas Glassman, son of Alan and Maggie Glassman, is the class valedictorian. They attend St. Joseph Church, Athens. The salutatorian is Rebecca Joanne Rainbow, daughter of Ronald and Joanna Warren, who are members at Princeton United Methodist Church.
Students will worship at the baccalaureate Mass on Thursday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Brigid Church, Johns Creek. Atlanta Auxiliary Bishop Luis R. Zarama is the principal celebrant and Father Neil Dhabliwala, a St. Pius X High School 1997 graduate and now pastor of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, Dahlonega, will be the homilist.
The class valedictorian is John-Jordan Shockley Nunnery, son of Edwin and Marci Nunnery, members of the Cathedral of Christ the King. The salutatorian is Jamison Lee Porter, son of Rick and Cherry Porter.
James and Susan Seaver will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award
The graduation takes place within the baccalaureate Mass, and Archbishop Gregory is to be the celebrant.
There are 75 students graduating, the largest graduating class in the school’s history. College-bound seniors received more than $5 million in college scholarships. As a class, the seniors earned more than 260 college acceptance offers.
Joshua Christopher Woolums, son of Jeff and Kristin Woolums, is the class valedictorian. They attend St. James the Apostle Church, McDonough. And the salutatorian is Bryn Paige Ambrose, son of Duncan Ambrose-Yob and Joseph Yob. They belong to St. Matthew Church, Tyrone.
The class of 2012 has 227 seniors. Kalley Susan McMullen is the class valedictorian. She is the daughter of Todd and Linda McMullen, members of St. Ann Church, Marietta. The class salutatorian is Treva Chung-Kwan Tam, daughter of Ricky Tam and Becky Yip, who are members of All Saints Church, Dunwoody.
The school community will have a baccalaureate Mass on Friday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter Chanel Church, Roswell, celebrated by Bishop Zarama.
The 203 members of the Marist School class of 2012 will receive their diplomas on Saturday, May 26, at 2 p.m., at the Marist School Centennial Center, Atlanta.
Archbishop Gregory and Father James Harrison, Marist School class of 1946, will be guests at the ceremony.
On Friday, May 25, at 8 p.m., at the Centennial Center, the school community will gather for a baccalaureate Mass. Marist Father John Walls will be the celebrant.
Madeline Marie Ward, daughter of Mark and Margaret Ward, is the class valedictorian. The family attends All Saints Church, Dunwoody.
The salutatorian is Emma Catherine BeMiller, daughter of Byron and Trisha BeMiller, who worship at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Atlanta.
A baccalaureate Mass will be celebrated in the Upper School gymnasium at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 25. Legionaries of Christ Father Robert Presutti is the celebrant.
For the girls school, the valedictorian is Rachel Marie Witt, daughter of Jason and Ann Witt, who attend St. Michael’s Church, Gainesville. The salutatorian is Anna Celia “Cece” Howard, daughter of Jason and Beth Howard, who attend St. Benedict Church, Johns Creek.
For the boys school, the valedictorian is Sean Alan Klooster, son of Alan and Mary Claire Klooster. They attend Good Shepherd Church, Cumming. The salutatorian is Preston Mark Stafford, son of Mark and Shelly Stafford, who are members of St. Brendan the Navigator Church, Cumming.
The ceremony follows a baccalaureate Mass at 10:30 a.m. The celebrants for the Mass are Archbishop Gregory and Msgr. Edward Dillon, pastor of Holy Spirit Church.
There are 55 graduating seniors at the independent Catholic school. The names of the valedictorian and the salutatorian have not been released yet.
