The Catholic Foundation of North Georgia recently awarded 25 grants totaling $100,000. These grants provide support to a variety of causes throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

The following 18 grants came from the General Grants Program, which is funded by the Foundation’s General, Goizueta, Community Services and Nellie Dodd McAdams Endowment Funds.

The preschool at All Saints Church, Dunwoody, received $4,000 to support the development of a multifunctional space for parishioners and children to use for worship, play, discovery and prayer.

The Archdiocese of Atlanta received $5,000 in support of the 2011 Eucharistic Congress.

The archdiocesan Office of Stewardship received $5,000 as a matching grant that will provide scholarships for priests to attend the International Catholic Stewardship Conference in Orlando, Fla.

Buckhead Christian Ministry, Atlanta, received $5,000 to support the transitional and 70/30 housing programs for homeless families.

The Catholic Center at Georgia Tech, Atlanta, received $5,000 to make much-needed repairs to the facility.

Catholic Charities Atlanta received $12,500 to support the Family Stabilization program and the salary of a case manager, which will provide assistance to vulnerable families.

Catholic Charities Atlanta received $5,000 to support the Refugee Resettlement Services Social Adjustment program for refugees who are seniors.

Christ the King School, Atlanta, received $6,500 to help replace some of the windows in the D’Youville building.

Covenant House of Georgia received $5,000 to provide general support for the crisis shelter and its direct services offered to homeless youth ages 17-21.

Habersham Families Helping Families, Clarkesville, received $2,500 to support costs to open a Plaza Comunitaria at the site of the thrift store and food pantry.

John Paul II Training Center, Gainesville, received $5,000 to help support the operating costs of the center.

Notre Dame Academy, Duluth, received $5,000 for a donor/admissions management database to track and report donations and student admissions.

Senior Services North Fulton, Roswell, received $1,400 to provide seniors with transportation to health care appointments through the Transportation Options Program for Seniors.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul received $5,000 to support the establishment of two Family Support Centers in Gwinnett and Cobb counties, and to expand the newly established SVdP food distribution program.

Sophia Academy, Atlanta, received $10,000 to support costs of the gym, auditorium and chapel space.

St. Joseph School, Athens, received $4,600 to purchase new books, book preservation equipment, and furnishings for the comprehensive library project.

St. Mark Church, Clarkesville, and St. Helena Mission, Clayton, received $2,000 for the Life Teen program, including meals for youth and volunteers, summer Life Teen retreats and staff development.

St. Thomas More School, Decatur, received $4,500 to assist with the purchase of interactive whiteboards for the computer lab, science lab and the middle school math lab.

The following seven grants were issued from the Parish Enrichment Grants Program, funded by the Goizueta Fund and approved by the Catholic Foundation’s Pastors Advisory Council:

Christ Our Hope Church, Lithonia, received $1,000 to support youth development activities, help produce religious educational materials, and purchase presentation equipment.

St. Francis of Assisi Church, Cartersville, received $1,000 to bring a seminarian musician from Mexico to engage the youth group and complement the parish’s Mexican population.

St. Helena Mission, Clayton, received $1,000 to support the St. Helena Benevolent Fund, which assists the needy in Rabun County and provides basic needs for inmates.

St. Mary Church, Rome, received $1,000 to purchase books and materials needed for the parish school of religion program.

St. Peter Church, LaGrange, received $1,000 to purchase a warming cabinet to use for community events.

St. Philip Benizi Church, Jonesboro, received $1,000 to purchase Catholic AIDS awareness publications and support the costs of exhibiting the AIDS Quilt.

St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Alpharetta, received $1,000 to provide online sessions for the catechist formation conference.
