Pinecrest Academy advanced to the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) state finals after defeating Holy Spirit Preparatory School, Atlanta, in the semifinals 54-40 at the Georgia College and State University Arena, March 2. In the championship game against Furtah Preparatory School, Acworth, Pinecrest was defeated 62-51.

Junior guard Mike Metz led Pinecrest with 25 points. Pinecrest head coach Andres Montana looked on the bright side following the loss saying, “Just two years ago this same group of kids finished 4-22. Going into the finals we were 22-4. These kids have accomplished a lot, and they should be able to hold their heads up high.”
