Lenten missions offer spiritual food in March, April

Lenten Mission: St. John Neumann Church, Lilburn

Sunday to Thursday, March 26-30, 7-8:15 p.m.

Father William Casey, CPM, will lead the mission. Father Casey served as superior general for the Congregation of the Fathers of Mercy for 12 years. He has worked extensively with Saint Joseph Communications and has appeared on EWTN. During the mission he will challenge the community to make a stronger, deeper personal commitment to Christ and his church. Topics will be the spiritual battle of our time; the weapon for our battle; the means to grace; the power of prayer; and the theology of Christian love and mercy. Lenten Mission: St. Thomas More Church, Decatur

Monday to Wednesday, March 27-29, 7 p.m.

Additional session March 29 at 1:30 p.m.

Jesuit Father Matthew Linn, noted retreat leader, author and healing minister, will lead. The topics, nightly, will be gratitude, why it heals and how to use grateful memories to heal ungrateful ones; the healing process, how it leads to increased freedom to love God, others and ourselves; and how praying the daily examen of St. Ignatius leads to discovery of how God is active in every moment of our lives and to greater freedom to love. Lenten Mission: “The Eucharist and the New Evangelization”

St. Brigid Church, Johns Creek

Monday to Wednesday, March 27-29, 9-10 a.m. and 7-8 p.m.

Father Bill Rhinehart, CM, of Vincentian Parish Missions, will lead the mission. The theme will be “The Eucharist and the New Evangelization: Making Choices for my Parish Community.” Morning and evening sessions will be offered. Mass will be incorporated into each mission session, making this a special experience and one which emphasizes the Eucharist. All are invited to this opportunity to listen to God and receive spiritual refreshment. Child care will be provided with an RSVP to Jennifer Boettinger at jboettinger@saintbrigid.org.

Charismatic Lenten Retreat: Holy Name of Jesus Chinese Mission, Norcross

Friday and Saturday, April 7-8

Father Minh Bui, Father Bill Hao, Father Tan Pham and Deacon Keith Kolodziej will direct this retreat on “Being Baptized in the Holy Spirit.” There is no cost. On Friday the retreat will be from 5 to 10:30 p.m. with a healing Mass at 7 p.m. On Saturday the retreat will continue from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. with a Palm Sunday vigil Mass at 5 p.m. Register early so organizers may provide food and drink.
