SHELTER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Published January 9, 2023
The Bashor Homeless Men’s Night Shelter seeks volunteers. Named for its longtime directors Mark and Katie Bashor, the Shelter (formerly The Central Night Shelter) is one of the oldest all-volunteer shelters in Atlanta. It was begun in 1980 by a group of people who saw a need for a shelter downtown. It is a hospitality ministry and offers a hot meal, a shower, and a safe place to sleep for up to 100 men nightly between Nov. 1 and March 31. A medical and foot clinic is also offered. Volunteers provide meals, takeaway lunches and breakfasts and serve as overnight hosts. Our most immediate need is for overnight hosts. These volunteers arrive at the shelter around 6 p.m. to eat dinner and receive training and instruction on their job for the night. Overnight volunteers are done by around 6 a.m. Contact: for information email Sue Briss at suebriss@gmail.com.
