Middle-Schoolers Entertain With Madcap Comedy

ATLANTA—“Flapper,” a madcap comedy set in the Roaring ‘20s, was recently performed by Immaculate Heart of Mary School’s middle school students.

The budding actors and possible Broadway stars prepared for three months for the fifth annual dinner theater. Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades ran the show, from cooking and serving the meal to selling tickets and performing.

The November dinner theater brought the school community together, including students, faculty and parents.

Presented in a two-night run, “Flapper” was directed by religion teacher Jamie Peek, with music by music teacher Amy LoCurto. The show was produced by middle school coordinator Haydee Vader.

Middle school students at IHM School recently presented a dinner theater featuring a 1920s comedy at the school. (L-r) Rachel Ponce de Leon, Ella Anastasiades, Andrew Anastasiades and Stephanie Benzur perform in the show.

Working behind the curtains, other teachers assisted with costumes, make-up, props, set design and directing.
